Graduated from the Philosophy Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1989. Postgraduate student of the Ethics Department of the Philosophy Faculty of MSU; received her postgraduate degree of Candidate of Philosophical Sciences (Ph.D.) upon defending dissertation on Creativity Ethics of Nikolai Berdyaev (supervised by Prof. T.A.Kuzmina) in 1993.

Conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for work on existential dialectics of N.Berdyaev (consulted by Prof. I.K.Kuchmaeva) in 2005.

Since 1993 M.V.Silantieva worked at the State Academy of Slavic Culture, heading the Academy’s Philosophy Department since 2000.

She is actively involved in dissertation councils on philosophy and cultural studies and supervised and consulted several candidate and doctoral dissertations successfully completed and defended.

She is on editorial boards of a number peer-reviewed journals on the list of High Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

A member of the Russian Philosophical Society. In 2013 M.A.Silantieva has been elected foreign member of the Serbian Academy of Education.

She has been teaching at MGIMO since 2005.

She completed the following advanced training programs:
