Dmitry Kryachkov

Ph.D. in Linguistics Department of English Language - Head of Department

Dmitry A. Kryachkov heads the English Language Department of the School of International Relations. He has a PhD in Linguistics and has been teaching at MGIMO since 2002 with a short break in 2007–2009 when he was assigned to the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN in New York as a translator and interpreter.

He teaches General English, English for Specific Purposes and Political Translation. He combines teaching and research with working as a translator and conference interpreter.

He is the author of English for Students of International Relations and Regional Studies. Master’s Level (2015) and a co-author of the Coursebook for Students of International Relations and Regional Studies. Bachelor’s Level. Competence-based Approach (in two parts, 2009). His current interests include teaching translation/interpretation and training interpreters, course design and materials development for General English and ESP, blended-learning, and lexicology.

Dmitry A. Kryachkov is a member of the Union of Translators of Russia. He is also on the editorial board of Lege Artis. Language yesterday, today, tomorrow, a peer-reviewed journal of University of SS Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, published by De Gruyter.
