June 6th, MGIMO hosted a meeting of the Scientific Council on «History of International Relations and Russia’s Foreign Policy» of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The scientific event was dedicated to «Russia and China in the current geopolitical context». Russian experts gathered to discuss the latest developments in relations between Russia and China as well as the economic and political aspects of China’s rise.
The meeting was moderated by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov, who welcomed the guests and underlined the importance of such events to understand the evolution of world politics. Members of the Council, MGIMO representatives and other academics made reports and gave a detailed account of China’s current impact on the situation in Central and South Asia, shared with the audience the American perspective on relations between China and Russia, and commented on China’s internal economic policy.
At the end of the meeting, Vladimir Morozov and the Head of the Council Andrey Sakharov extended their thanks to the meeting participants for their active contribution to the debates and invited them to participate in upcoming meetings.
