MGIMO Student Wins Young Tax Professional of the Year Competition

November 7th, the Moscow office of the international audit and consulting company Ernst and Young hosted the all-Russian final of the annual tax competition Young Tax Professional of the Year 2018. A student from MGIMO University, Valeria Kochetova, came first in the teamwork and second in the inspanidual competition.

The event consisted of three stages: about a thousand students from all over Russia took part in the contest and only 34 were invited to participate in the last part. During the final, the participants were spanided into teams and given an hour to solve a difficult case in English related to international taxation. During the presentation of the results, the jury assessed the students’ ability to work as a team, their command of English, and their technical skills.

A large group of MGIMO students participated in the contest and six of them made it into the finals. Valeria Kochetova came second in the inspanidual competition and her team took the first place in the group work. The students were mentored by Dina Osina from the Department of Legal Theory and Comparative Law and supported by the management of International Law School.
