26 January 2018
January 26th to February 5th, the second round of the competition for scholarships granted by the Vladimir Potanin Foundation was held at MGIMO University.
MGIMO is the only university in Moscow to have been selected to host the Foundation’s 2017/2018 Business Games. Seven other Russian cities also held selection rounds: Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk and Vlaspanostok. During the second stage of the selection process, MGIMO University welcomed over 750 undergraduates from 41 leading universities in Russia over the course of a whole week.
During the closing ceremony, the participants were addressed by the Project Manager of the Foundation Darya Bolotinskaya and the Head of MGIMO’s Department for Work with Students and Graduates, Anton Podshivalov. The speakers noted that the Business Games are an interesting selection process with a creative atmosphere, which allow students to display a variety of skills and make new contacts. Darya Bolotinskaya emphasized the fact that the Business Games are not a test for erudition but rather an assessment of each person’s leadership potential and motivation for development.
After the two rounds have been fully assessed, 500 students will be selected as winners of the Vladimir Potanin scholarship and will receive 20 thousand rubles a month starting from February 2018 and until they graduate from their MA program. All scholarship holders are also given the opportunity to participate in the School of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, which takes place annually in the Moscow region.
