September 7th, members of the working group of the Russian Committee devoted to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations gathered for a working meeting.
The event was attended by MGIMO Rector and Chairman of the UN Association of Russia A.Torkunov, the Deputy Chairman and Head of the Working Group of the UN-75 Committee A.Borisov, the Deputy of the State Duma A.Karpov and the Director of the Russian Seasons Cultural Festival E.Shcherbakova.
During the meeting, participants discussed the execution of the committee’s plan for the 75th anniversary of the UN. The UN-75 Committee is actively involved in organizing and coordinating events to celebrate the upcoming event.
The agenda of the UN-75 Committee includes the following activities:
- The Moscow International Model United Nations named after Vitaly Churkin (October 18th to 23rd);
- The exhibition of stamps from A. Karpov’s collection "History of the UN in stamps" in New York and a chess game with the world champion A. Karpov in Geneva and Vienna;
- Concerts by famous Russian performers at the UN offices in Geneva, Vienna and at UNESCO headquarters in Paris;
- An online tournament for the UN Cup in Cybersports on October 24th;
- A gala reception to mark the 75th anniversary of the UN with the support of the Moscow government on October 19th at the Zaryadye Concert Hall.
