MGIMO Welcomes Delegation from Turkish Ministry of Education

October 11th, a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Education came to MGIMO University to discuss collaboration in research and education.

On MGIMO’s side, the meeting was attended by the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Vladimir Morozov, the Head of the Department of Middle-Eastern Languages Andrey Shtanov and members of the faculty. The Turkish delegation comprised the Heads of the Administration and Finance and of the Planning and Coordination Departments of the Turkish Ministry of Education, Khalil Doganay and Fatih Kuzu, as well as their deputies.

Vladimir Morozov kicked off the meeting, by extending a kind welcome to the guests and noting that MGIMO has a history of successful cooperation with Turkish universities. The Turkish language has been taught at MGIMO for over sixty years and the University currently counts 13 Turkish students enrolled in full-time courses. The Vice-Rector also praised the active work of MGIMO’s Turkish club.

Khalil Doganay presented the main characteristics of the Turkish education system and spoke about the activities of the Council of Higher Education. The guest also expressed an interest in increasing the number of Turkish students studying at MGIMO. The University’s representatives gave a detailed account of the possible models of collaboration.

Both parties confirmed their desire to take bilateral cooperation one step further and the Turkish sideconveyed its thanks to MGIMO for the kind greeting.
