MGIMO at Trianon Dialogue Session on Smart Cities

January 17th, the Trianon Dialogue held a session dedicated to discussing «Smart City: Managing Territorial Development». The conference marked a logical transition from the Trianon Dialogue’s 2018 topic on Cities of the Future to its 2019 topic, Education.

Experts from Russia and France gathered to discuss a myriad of topics including: the integration of new technologies in urban development projects, turning the city into a place for intellectual development and creating a favorable environmental situation in urban areas.

MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Economic Matters, Natalia Kuzmina, underlined the need to develop cities which are not only smart, but also comfortable and which enable their inhabitants to communicate easily through new technologies and in person. Laurent Paganon, Director of the EDF Representative Office in Russia and the CIS gave a talk on the importance of energy storage technology in setting up the city of the future.

Andrei Chibis, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation spoke about different projects of Franco-Russian cooperation to improve urbanism and interaction with citizens, among them the joint initiative developed with the French company Bouygues.
