MGIMO University and MIEP MGIMO Start Implementing Cooperation Projects with University of Tehran

MGIMO University, MIEP MGIMO and the University of Tehran signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The video conference on June 6th was devoted to further cooperation and the implementation of joint plans set out in the Memorandum.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy Professor Valery Salygin, the Deputy Directors Dmitry Zhuvakin and Sergey Vasiliev, leading analysts of the MIEP Center for Strategic Studies in Energy and Digital Economy Anton Markin and Alisa Khubayeva.

During the video conference, the Iranian side was represented by the Vice-President for International Affairs of the University of Tehran Professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi, the Director General of the Office of International Relations Abdolmajid Eskandari, the Head of the Department for International Cooperation Farahnaz Ebrahimi, a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education in Russia, Belarus and the CIS countries, Counselor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia Professor Hadi Goudarzi.

The parties discussed the creation of a joint North—South Transport Corridor Institute, implying the expansion of cooperation and the involvement of partners from India, as well as the establishment of a Russian-Iranian Institute for Energy Cooperation.

The Vice-President for International Affairs of the University of Tehran also fully supported the joint development of cooperation and the implementation of trilateral projects and programs with Chinese Tsinghua University, which is a partner for both MIEP MGIMO and the University of Tehran.

It was decided to create a permanent working group to quickly address the challenges related to the implementation of cooperation projects between MGIMO University, MIEP MGIMO and the University of Tehran.

The University of Tehran showed great interest in the proposed joint implementation of MBA programs, advanced training programs for employees of leading oil, gas and energy companies and other joint educational projects, as well as in joint research in digital economy and artificial intelligence.
