Ambassador of Kazakhstan Comes to MGIMO

May 29th, MGIMO welcomed the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia Imangali Tasmagambetov. The guest met with MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov and gave a talk to Kazakh students.

The visiting delegation also comprised several advisors from the embassy, who were received by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, by the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Artem Malgin, the Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs, Andrey Baykov, and the Head of the International Office, Egor Andreev.

During their interview, Anatoly Torkunov told the Ambassador about MGIMO’s cooperation with universities in Kazakhstan, and the achievements of Kazakh students at MGIMO. The sides also discussed the preparation of the IV International Forum of MGIMO alumni, which is scheduled to take place from October 5th to 7th in Astana.

The Ambassador delivered a lecture to MGIMO students, after a short introduction by Egor Andreev, who noted that over 150 students from Kazakhstan are currently enrolled at the University. Imangali Tasmagambetov, in turn, thanked MGIMO for its warm welcome and spoke about the achievements of his country over the last 25 years. The Ambassador emphasized the fact that education is one of the top priorities of the current government and that Kazakh graduates are in high demand in their home country, which is undergoing rapid modernization.
