February 9th, a delegation from MGIMO led by its Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin attended a meeting in Tashkent with the Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Abdubajar Abduvakhitov.
A number of issues were discussed during the visit, including plans to hold the 5th MGIMO World Alumni Forum graduates in Tashkent. The sides reached a decision regarding the dates the Forum will be held and hashed out the content of the program, which will be dedicated to enhancing economic cooperation.
The parties also spoke about operational issues relating to the upcoming opening of a branch of MGIMO University in Tashkent and fine-tuned the existing agreements. Indeed, in September this year the Tashkent branch of MGIMO will offer students new programs in Business and Jurisprudence.
The visiting delegation met with MGIMO alumni and discussed the opportunities to develop the activities of the Uzbek Alumni Association in view of preparing the Forum. A special issue of MGIMO Journal will be dedicated to Uzbekistan.
