MGIMO Summer School for Students from Uzbekistan

The program «International Journalism and Public Relations» created by MGIMO’s School of Business and International Proficiency for students from Uzbekistan has started.

The program has been tailored to meet the needs of its participants, graduates of the bachelor’s degree of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan). The 28 visiting students have completed a course at their home university on the promotion of Uzbekistan in the international information environment and will pursue their studies next year as Master students.

The Summer School consists of a number of master classes by museum directors, heads of news agencies, journalists and professionals involved in public relations. The students have already attended lectures by Vladimir Gerasimov, Executive Director of the Interfax group, Yury Vyazemsky, Head of the Department of World Literature and Culture at MGIMO, and been on a visit to the radio station «Echo Moscow» and to the Pushkin Museum-Reserve in Zakharova.

Valdai Club Foundation Board Chairman Andrei Bystritsky gave a talk on the current activities of the organization. Students also attended foreign language courses, as language skills are essential to international public relations activities. The Summer School will run until July 12th and students will upon its completion present their projects on the means and objectives to improve the image of Uzbekistan globally.
