Presentation of State Policy «Spanish Brand» at MGIMO

March 16th, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov welcomed Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, High Commissioner of a governmental project to promote the «Spanish brand».

The guest of honor gave a lecture, to an audience of students and faculty members, devoted to the project «Spanish brand», which aims to improve the image of the country abroad through various soft power strategies. The objective is to reject outdated stereotypes all the while protecting national traditions. This strategy elaborated within the framework of the Spanish Foreign Ministry aroused the interest of the students, who put to the speaker a myriad of questions. The High Commissioner praised the students about their proficiency in the Spanish language.

After the lecture, the Spanish side invited a delegation from MGIMO to visit the residence of the Spanish Ambassador in Moscow. The sides discussed the opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation, including the visit to MGIMO of the new Ambassador of Spain to Russia, the participation of Spanish representatives in an upcoming conference on Spain and the organization of a round-table to exchange ideas on issues related to cultural diplomacy.
