MGIMO Participates in Science Leaders Program

October 27th-28th, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology hosted a «Science Leaders Program», which gathered the winners of the Presidential Russian Science Foundation competition aimed to support research projects initiated by young scientists. MGIMO was represented at the event by its Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, by Senior Lecturer Igor Istomin and Associate Professor Andrey Sushentsov of the Department of Applied Analysis of International Problems.

During a series of meetings, participants mulled over the impact that inspanidual researchers can have on the implementation of the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia, the efficiency of different tools in promoting groundbreaking research and innovation as well as the channels of communication between science, business and society.

Amongst the speakers sharing their experience and giving advice to young researchers were the Aide to the Russian President Andrei Fursenko, the General Director of the Russian Science Foundation Alexander Khlunov and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Grigory Trubnikov. MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov gave a talk on the different career paths researchers have to choose between and spoke more specifically about the advantages of becoming a «Scientist-organizer».
