October 18th-19th, the first Russian-Uzbek Educational Forum will take place in Tashkent. A delegation from MGIMO University headed by its Rector Anatoly Torkunov will participate in the forum and in events to prepare for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan.
The plenary session of the forum will be attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, the Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Department for International and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Vladimir Chernov, the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mazhidov and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Mikhail Kotyukov.
Anatoly Torkunov and the Rectors of the National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Technical University, Tashkent State University of Economics and other Uzbek universities will give presentations about how to develop cooperation in education between the two countries.
MGIMO Rector also plans to meet with Uzbek graduates of our University and discuss the preparation of the next alumni forum, which will be held next spring in Tashkent. There are also plans to sign, on the sidelines of the forum, an agreement between MGIMO and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on the creation of a branch of MGIMO in Uzbekistan.
