May 6th, a delegation of Wuhan University (PRC) visited MGIMO to partake in the opening ceremony of the Russian-Chinese joint Research Center on International Law.
The delegation was hosted by Vladimir Morozov, the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Alexander Vylegzhanin, Chair of the Department of International Law, the faculty members of the Department of International Law Nataliya Vorontsova, Yevgeniy Voronin and Mikhail Lysenko. Representatives of Russian Foreign Ministry and of the Chinese Embassy in Russia also participated in the meeting.
The Chinese delegation was led by the Vice President of Wuhan University Li Fei, and included among others the Dean of the Chinese Institute of Border and Marine Research Minyou Yu, the Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism Luo Yongkuan, the Deputy Dean of the School of International Education Liu Ping, a representative of the Academy of Humanitarian and Social Sciences Chen Shin and the Deputy Director of the Department of International Relations Luo An.
Vladimir Morozov welcomed the guests and underscored MGIMO’s interest in deepening its cooperation with Chinese universities, stressing the importance of bilateral cooperation between Russia and China in the field of education and science. The Vice-Rector spoke about MGIMO’s collaboration with its Chinese partners and described different programs, which have already been successfully implemented.
Wuhan State University has been working with MGIMO since 2017, when the sides concluded an agreement on cooperation. In October 2018, the universities signed a Memorandum on the establishment of a joint Research Center on International Law.
During the meeting, the sides elaborated a plan for further work, determined the areas of mutual academic interest and signed an additional student exchange agreement. Following the meeting, members of the Chinese delegation were presented with memorable gifts with symbols of MGIMO.
