March 12th, with the support of the Trianon Dialogue, a Russian-French conference "Educational cooperation between Russia and France during the pandemic: strategy and prospects" unfolded in a remote format. The event was held within the framework of the Forum of Rectors of Humanities Universities and Deans of Humanities Faculties of Russia and France.
Launched by the Russian State University for the Humanities in 2009, the Forum is a popular international platform for effective cooperation in education, for developing academic partnerships and exchanging views.
The Adviser to the Conference of Rectors of French Universities on International Relations J.-L.Nahel, the President of the Russian State University for the Humanities E.Pivovar, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in France K.Volkov, the Adviser for Science and Technology of the Department of Science, Technologies and Space of the French Embassy in Russia A.Malak, the Counselor of the Russian Embassy in France, representative of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science in France K.Bykov all gave welcome speeches to the audience.
MGIMO Rector, Co-chairman of the "Trianon Dialogue", A.Torkunov opened the session on "University knowledge in the humanities and education in the context of the pandemic and its consequences."
In his speech, the Rector shared the University’s experience adapting to the pandemic, spoke about the transfer to online interactions with international partners and the digital changes to the educational process. A.Torkunov also presented the projects of the Trianon Dialogue in 2020-2021 and welcomed any ideas for new initiatives, which could be carried out in upcoming years.
During the meeting, the findings of a report on "The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the current situation and the population's expectations for the further development of the situation", developed at the request of the Trianon Dialogue, were presented. V.Fedorov compared the attitude of Russian and French youth to vaccination, as well as their perceptions of the impact of the pandemic of their societies. The conference participants also discussed the program of the VII Forum of Rectors of Humanities Universities and Deans of Humanities Faculties of Russia and France, which is scheduled to take place in October 2021 in France.
