MGIMO Hosts Round Table on Reform of Russian Scientific Journals

September 18th, MGIMO’s School of Governance and Politics organized a conference on the future of Russian scientific publications and the means to integrate them in international databases.

The event gathered representatives of the Association of Science Editors and Publishers (ASEP), the publishing company Elsevier (Scopus), and editors from the scientific journals «Vestnik MGIMO-University», «Integration of Education», «Socis», «International Trends», «Contemporary Europe» and many others.

The round table was opened by the Dean of the School of Governance and Politics Henry Sardaryan who welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of improving the quality of Russian academic publications and developing the cooperation between scientific journals and universities.

The event was attended by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov and moderated by the Advisor to MGIMO Rector Lilia Raitskaya. A variety of topics were discussed including the problems of scientific peer-reviewed journals, the violation of ethics in scientific publications, the rules of editorial policy, the means to improve the quality of articles and to strengthen the reputation of Russian peer-reviewed journals.
