MGIMO Shines in QS BRICS Ranking

October 16th, the international agency QS published its 2019 BRICS ranking, which includes universities from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In the latest edition of the ranking, MGIMO came 44th.

This year, out of the 403 universities in the list of finalists, 112 were Chinese, 101 Russian, 90 Brazilian, 83 Indian and 13 South African. MGIMO is in the top ten Russian universities according to this ranking and in the top 11% of BRICS universities. MGIMO has improved its performance this year as regards the Faculty/Student Ratio, the Proportion of International Students, the Proportion of International Faculty and the Employer Reputation indicator.

Russia has 24 universities in the top one hundred of the ranking, 10 in the top 50 and Moscow State University maintains its place in the top ten. According to QS experts, Russian universities perform particularly well in the Employer Reputation category. During the QS audit of MGIMO, our University received total points for this indicator and was awarded 5 STARS for its overall results.

The QS BRICS rating takes into account the following criteria: Academic Reputation (30%), Employer Reputation (20%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), the Proportion of International Students and International Faculty (2.5% each), the number of Citations by Paper (5%), the Proportion of Staff with a PhD (10%) and the number of Papers per Faculty (10%).
