SPIEF 2018: MGIMO and United Nations Development Program Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

May 24th, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed by MGIMO and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which provides a framework for the creation of an UNDP — MGIMO internship program.

The official document was signed by UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner and MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov. The signing ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of United Nations Associations Alexei Borisov and the Director of the United Nations Information Center in Moscow, Vladimir Kuznetsov.

On January 23rd 2015, the Russian Government and UNDP concluded a Partnership Framework Agreement, which had for goal to expand the Russian Federation’s participation in the work of UNDP.

UNDP has recently created an internship program within its regional project «Knowledge Management and Capacity Building in the Russia-UNDP Partnership» which aims to promote innovations in expertise and knowledge sharing between Russia and partner countries through several mechanisms: providing Russian expertise for short-term tasks in partner countries with the assistance of UNDP Country Offices, internships for students and volunteerism development.
