Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan Welcome the 5th MGIMO World Alumni Forum Participants

On May 19th the Palace of Symposiums of the Alisher Navoiy National Library of Uzbekistan hosted the official opening ceremony of the 5th MGIMO World Alumni Forum.

Prime-Minister Abdulla Aripov read out the opening statement by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The statement says that MGIMO is a brand known all over the world, which attests to the high quality of Russian eduction. MGIMO alumni are true experts with deep knowledge, able to take sensible decisions in the context of global politics. As it was agreed at the top level, in September a MGIMO Campus in Tashkent will be opened, which will become an inherent part of the higher education system of Uzbekistan.

The statement of the Russian President says that MGIMO has become known worldwide through providing education to a large number of bright talented diplomats, scholars, journalists and entrepreneurs. This year the University celebrates its 75th anniversary, and shortly before this important occasion the alumni from various countries gathered in the hospitable city of Tashkent to exchange their views on the relevant issues of international agenda, discuss further prospects for the development of the university, share warm memories about student years, peers and dearest professors. In his statement Vladimir Putin expresses his confidence that the conference will be organised at a high level and contribute significantly to the strengthening of multilateral humanitarian cooperation.
