The MGIMO journal "Professional Discourse & Communication" has successfully passed the peer review phase and has made it into one of the most prestigious international academic journal databases: the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Being indexed in the DOAJ proves that the journal conforms with all current international requirements and testifies to the quality of an academic publication. In order to be part of the database, journals are analysed based on dozens of different criteria relating to all stages of the publishing process (editorial policy, quality of the editorial board, transparency of application process, how articles are reviewed and published, accessibility of full-length articles, copyright protection, respect of ethical, plagiarism and privacy rules, quality of the journal’s website, etc.).

DOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. Its goal is to promote and popularize academic journals available free of charge over the Internet.

Currently, the DOAJ open access journal database comprises 14 823 journals from 133 countries, which is less than 10% of the total number of academic journals published on a yearly basis around the world.
