4 February 2021

Following the decree of the French Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports dated October 28th, 2020, the Head of the Department of the French Language M.Ogorodov and the Associate Professor L.Chitakhova were awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes académiques.

The congratulatory letter received from the Ambassador of France to Russia Pierre Levy, underlined the significant contribution of the awardees to the strengthening of cooperation and good relations between France and Russia.

The Order of Academic Palms is an order of knighthood of France for academics and cultural and educational figures. The early Palmes académiques were instituted in 1808 by the Emperor Napoleon and were only awarded to teachers or professors of the University of Paris and some lyceums. Currently, the order can be awarded to teachers and members of the teaching community, to those who have made a significant contribution to public education, as well as to foreign nationals who actively contribute to cooperation with France in the sphere of education and culture.

Let us extend our sincere congratulations to our colleagues on the high award and wish them further success in their endeavours!
