August 30th, freshmen undergraduates received student ID cards from MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov during a formal ceremony, which marked the start of the academic year. The Vice-Rector delivered remarks on the advantages of studying at MGIMO in the English language. Andrey Baykov expressed confidence that the Bachelor program at the School of Government and International Affairs meets the highest global standards of liberal arts education as well as the requirements of international job markets for qualified international relations professionals.

School Director Mikhail Troitskiy welcomed the new class of students. He expects the students to fully benefit from the School’s interdisciplinary curriculum that is being constantly adapted to the evolving expectations of major employers in Russia and beyond. Mikhail Troitskiy gave the students an overview of their curriculum stressing the need to prepare for intense training in two foreign languages. Student clubs at the School — Future World Diplomats and Diplomatic Negotiation Club — were presented by their leaders — David Smith (4th year), Fyodor Volkov and Artyom Kuzmin (2nd year).
