Harper Collins Publishers has released a collective monograph “A New Cold War: Henry Kissinger and the Rise of China”. The author team includes Igor Yurgens, Professor at the Department of Risk Management and Insurance.

In the summer of 1971, the U.S. Presidential National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger flew to Beijing for secret talks. Washington offered China a deal: they were to join the ‘capitalist camp’ in exchange for investment. At the same time, Mr. Kissinger began peace negotiations with the USSR. To mark the 50th anniversary of Kissinger's historic flight, Harper Collins Publishers India published a collective monograph “A New Cold War: Henry Kissinger and the Rise of China”.

Among the authors are 19 scholars and experts in international relations from various countries, ranging from the former Australian Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs Peter Varghese to former Economist editor Bill Emmott. Each wrote a chapter on an aspect of this maneuver by Kissinger. The author team includes a Russian scholar, the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Contemporary Development Foundation (INSOR) and Professor at the Department of Risk Management and Insurance Igor Yurgens.
