Moscow Government Meets with MGIMO Students

May 14th, a delegation of the Moscow Government came to MGIMO to talk to students of the University. The event took place in the framework of the youth Program «The Moscow Team», which organizes different meetings between representatives of the city administration and students of leading Moscow universities.

The guests were greeted by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs, Andrey Baykov, who remarked that the University trains future diplomats for the Russian Foreign Ministry but also experts in politics science, economics, law, management, journalism and public relations. Each year, noted the Vice-Rector, 2000 MGIMO students undergo placements and the University is constantly working on establishing relations with state structures and private businesses.

The delegation also met with students and told them about the career prospects offered by the Moscow government. Different members of the team spoke about their career paths, from being interns to progressing to more senior positions.
The Rector of the Moscow City University of Management Vassiliy Fiveysky spoke about the creation of a «Summer Career School», during which students find out about the work of Moscow’s different administrations. The best interns are offered the opportunity to undergo placements in foreign cities such as Shanghai and Singapore.

Other civil servants described the activities of the Moscow Government, explaining the different projects developed by the administration including the «My District» initiative and the creation of a Center of Tolerance in Moscow. The guest remarked that the team cooperates with foreign partners to find effective solutions and is enthusiastic about any bold, new ideas students can bring forward. Another speaker underlined Moscow’s enormous potential and the unique opportunities offered by digitalization in the spheres of education, health care, and urban planning.
