March 27th, a delegation from the Republic of Serbia led by the Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Dordevic came to MGIMO. The Minister had an interview with the University’s management and gave a talk to students on the topic «The Republic of Serbia is true to its citizens».
The Serbian delegation also comprised the Assistant Minister for International Cooperation, EU Integration and Projects at the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Jovana Milovanovic, the Serbian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Slavenko Terzic and representatives of the Embassy. On MGIMO’s side, the meeting was attended by the University’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev and members of the faculty.
Andrey Baykov and Egor Andreev spoke to the guests about MGIMO’s cooperation with Serbian educational institutes, particularly the University of Belgrade and the University of Pristina. They described the specificities of regional studies and foreign language training at MGIMO as well as the work of the Balkan Club. In December 2017, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was presented with the title of Honorary Doctor of MGIMO for his great contribution to reinforcing the Russian-Serbian friendship.
The Minister recognized MGIMO’s positive contribution to the training of Serbian civil servants and diplomatic staff and suggested the University could create new courses dedicated to developing students’ oratorical skills. After the meeting, Zoran Dordevic delivered a lecture to students of the University regarding the social and economic policy of Serbia.
