November 20th, a training course implemented by MGIMO and UNITAR for diplomats and civil servants of CIS member states started at the University.
MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin extended a warm welcome to the guests and students on behalf of the University. The opening ceremony was attended by the Manager of UNITAR’s Multilateral Diplomacy Program Rabih El-Haddad and by the Assistant to the Program, Philippe Aubert.
This year’s training course is dedicated to International Environmental Cooperation, and looks into the opportunities and risks for CIS countries and other states. A total of 28 diplomats and civil servants from a number of countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Syria, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Tajikistan) are participating in the course, which comprises a myriad of different activities relating to international cooperation in the environmental sphere, including lectures, seminars, master classes and excursions.
The week long course will be taught by MGIMO professors, diplomats from the Russian Foreign Ministry, professionals from the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment as well as guest lecturers from UNITAR. The Program was set up by MGIMO’s Business School and the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources Studies.
