April 8th to 12th, MGIMO hosted the second MGIMO-Henley Startup Tour, a program implemented with Henley Business School (University of Reading), in which students from both universities create joint business projects. This year 38 guests came from the UK for this program organized by MGIMO’s «Business Incubator».
During the opening ceremony, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov and the Deputy Dean for International Programs at Henley Business School Yelena Kalyuzhnova spoke about the fine opportunity this program is for Henley students to see Russia from the inside and for MGIMO students to get fresh ideas and learn about implementing projects in an international context.
The British students first attended lectures on macro and micro trends in international marketing, client attraction strategies, cyber start-up projects, and the most effective business models. Then they met with MGIMO students specializing in entrepreneurship and discussed, with the support of mentors from MGIMO and Henley Business School, their business ideas. They also went on a visit of Strogino Technopark, a partner of MGIMO’s «Business Incubator».
This year, ten projects were elaborated in the framework of the Startup Tour and the most original were awarded prizes. The first prize was free participation in the Summer Startup Boot Camp at Henley Business School.
