RISA Convention

Only one month is left before the 75th MGIMO Anniversary Celebration in October. We thank our alumni, partners and friends for their interest to our anniversary!

The crucial difference between this anniversary and previous ones is that this time it covers the whole year and several MGIMO community events are held to celebrate it. Among the most significant events are the MGIMO World Alumni Forum in Tashkent, Sport Generations Student Games, Rector’s golf and football cups, and a number of events in various Russian regions.

A monument devoted to a great humanist and Russian writer Lev Tolstoy will be unveiled in MGIMO on September 26th.

On October 21st-22d MGIMO will host the Convention of the Russian International Studies Association, in which Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part. The Programme of the Convention will include ASEAN — Russia Forum on Education; the Conference of the French-Russian Trianon Dialogue and the Association of the Leading Universities entitled «Academic Diplomacy. The Role of Leading Russian Universities»; a special plenary session devoted to great Russian diplomats such as Anatoly Dobrynin, Oleg Troyanovsky, Yuri Vorontsov, Evgeni Primakov; a special session of MIKTA, a Russian-Polish conference.

On October 21st, after the first day of the Convention, The World Through the eyes of MGIMO students, a MGIMO art-festival, will be opened in the lobby near the conference hall with the performance of jazz musicians.

On October 23d the faculty as well as MGIMO veterans will have an opportunity to visit Raymonda ballet at the Bolshoi Theatre. This gala night will be one of the crucial events of this anniversary year.

We also will be waiting for MGIMO alumni on November 29th in the Alexandrinsky Theatre in Saint-Petersbourg. The event is planned as a friendly meeting to watch together An Optimistic Tragedy. The programme also includes various cultural events and excursions on November 30th. Follow the news on MGIMO and MGIMO Alumni websites. We will let you know soon about the tickets availability.

A special information project of this year is a contest of MGIMO Alumni Association — MGIMO Stories. The best short stories are already being posted on the MGIMO website, and the prize winners will be published in the special issue of MGIMO Journal devoted to the Anniversary in October.
