February 14th, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Russia Alikbek Jekshenkulov came to MGIMO and attended a meeting with the University’s Rector.
Anatoly Torkunov spoke about MGIMO’s cooperation with universities in Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz students currently studying at MGIMO. The Rector described the recent cultural and expert events dedicated to bilateral relations and the role of the Kyrgyz Club at MGIMO. He also mentioned the Fifth MGIMO Alumni Forum, scheduled for May 2019, and asked the Ambassador to extend an invitation to the event to MGIMO alumni from Kyrgyzstan. The Forum will include thematic sessions on economic and security issues in Eurasia.
Alikbek Jekshenkulov promised to diffuse information about the forum and emphasized the importance of building strong bilateral ties in the political, economic and educational spheres. After the meeting, the sides agreed to promote cooperation in education and research between their two countries.
