November 3rd, a conference was held remotely between MGIMO and the Korean National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA). Since 2010, it has become a tradition to annually organize meetings of experts alternately in Moscow and Seoul.
The event was opened by the Chancellor of the KNDA Kim Joon-Hyung and the Vice-Rector for Research and International Partnerships, Dean of the School of International Relations A.Baykov.
The conference comprised two sections. The first part was dedicated to changes in the international situation in the Asia-Pacific region and had for speakers from MGIMO the Professor of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Russia Y.Dubinin, the Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies E.Koldunova and the Associate Professor of the Department of Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Mongolian languages and of the Department of Oriental Studies I.Dyachkov.
The second part had for moderator V.Sukhinin, Associate Professor of the Department of Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Mongolian Languages. The discussion revolved around regional security in Northeast Asia. The section was attended by the Head of the Department of Oriental Studies Professor D. Streltsov, the Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies A. Vorontsov, as well as the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Oriental Studies, Deputy Dean of the School of the International Relations V.Nelidov. As the conference came to a close, the Head of the Department of Diplomacy, Professor A.Panov made a presentation.
The conference allowed both sides to exchange views on the development of the international political situation in the region, taking into account the changes in the policy of key states following the US elections. The presentations of A.Baykov, D.Streltsov, E.Koldunova, I.Dyachkov and V.Nelidov were sponsored by the grant project No. 19-18-00142 of the Russian Science Foundation.
