May 16th, the tenth annual conference of MGIMO and the Korean National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) was held at our University.
MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov received the leader of the Korean delegation, the Chancellor of KNDA Cho Sei-Young before the official start of the event. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department of European Studies and African Studies at KNDA Kim Duk-Shu, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Research Evgeny Kozhokin, the Head of the Department of Oriental Studies Dmitry Streltsov and faculty members from both universities.
Anatoly Torkunov extended his congratulations to his Korean counterpart on the anniversary conference, and expressed the desire to pursue the active cooperation between MGIMO and KNDA in the future.
In his welcome words at the start of the conference, Evgeny Kozhokin greeted the guests and announced the agenda of the conference. The academic discussion was divided into two sections. The first was devoted to the nuclear question on the Korean Peninsula. Presentations were made by professors and lecturers from both sides. During the second section, participants gave talks on the development of relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea. The discussions that followed focused on security in Northeast Asia and initiatives to expand bilateral relations.
