On October 12, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia hosted the 4th Meeting of the Network of ASEAN-Russia Think Tanks (NARTT).
MGIMO University was presented by Dr. Andrey Baykov, Vice-Rector for Science and Research, Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova, Director of the ASEAN Centre; Dr. Victor Sumsky, ASEAN Centre’s Senior Expert; and Dr. Ekaterina Bliznetskaya, Lecturer of the Department for Environment and Natural Resourсe Studies, Expert of the FAO Information Center. Among other Russian research institutions were Yu. A. Izrael Institute of Global Climate and Ecology and kills Development Skills Agency (Worldskills Russia). This year the discussion focused on two tracks of Russia-ASEAN cooperation, namely digital education and climate change.
H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia and Dr. Andrey Baykov, Vice-Rector for Science and Research welcomed the guests. H.E. Hang Chuon Naron in his remarks praised the participants’ intention to explore effective ways forward to strengthen Russia-ASEAN relations, including development of joint exchange programs, producing joint publications and implementing collaborative projects. In turn, Dr. Andrey Baykov stressed that the topics under discussion are essential for post-COVID socio-economic development, because digital education and climate change affect both the social security and social well-being of various countries in the world.
The discussion ended in a general wish to forge dialogue further and propose concrete steps to develop ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership that will be presented at the ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials Meeting. The next meeting will be hosted by MGIMO University.
