August 26th-28th, MGIMO organized an Integration Week for the international students admitted to the University. This series of events was focused on introducing MGIMO, settling formal issues, and familiarizing the new students with the Russian cultural environment.
Welcoming remarks were made by the Vice-Rector for Social Work and International Affairs Stanislav Surovtsev and the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev. The Vice-Rector wished the students fruitful studies, noting the advantages of taking an active part in the social life of the University. Mr Surovtsev emphasized the importance of networking and friendship, which is the basis of MGIMO corporate culture. Answering the international students’ questions, the Vice-Rector told about the plans to put the new dormitory into operation, the functioning of the MGIMO Guide electronic resource, the launch of the digital service ‘International Student’ and the work of student supervisors.
The program of the Integration Week included introductory briefings on the migration rules and the MGIMO dormitories, held by the International Office. There was also a meeting with the representatives of the Soglasie company devoted to the health insurance issues. All events were organized consecutively in Russian or English.
During the second half of the program's main day an interactive ‘MGIMO Tour’ quest was held organized by Student Union activists. Its was aimed at getting acquainted with the University's infrastructure, student organizations and extracurricular activities. International students were divided into teams and visited the most important places at MGIMO. During the quest participants had the opportunity not only to better know the University’s infrastructure in practice, but also to learn a lot about what awaits them in the next academic year.
Also as part of the socio-cultural block interactive seminars on the Zoom platform were held, with Professor Elena Lioznova speaking about the main milestones of the Russian history and presenting interesting facts about the culture of the country. The program ended on August 28th with a four-hour sightseeing tour of Moscow.
We wish the students a productive academic year!
