On February 3d–4th, students from MGIMO foreign partner universities, who have come to do an internship in the spring term within the framework of the exchange program supported by the International Office, visited the integration events in the hybrid format.
In his video address, the Vice-Rector for Students’ Development and International Affairs Stanislav Surovtsev welcomed the interns, telling them about the past and present of MGIMO University and MGIMO branches. He also noted the importance of such integration events which since 2020 had been held in offline and online formats.
The first meeting was opened by the International Exchange Programs Coordinator and Leading Expert at the International Office Ekaterina Orlova who dwelled on the structure of MGIMO educational process, the areas of studies and the subdivisions that supervise them.
The Expert at the Directorate of Language Training and the Bologna Process Ekaterina Krasheninnikova explained how MGIMO University applies the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), telling the interns about the credit transfer algorithm.
The Head of the International Office’s Educational Process Support Unit Elena Reshetnyak informed those present about the peculiarities of the Russian migration law, drawing their attention to the need of providing additional medical papers for foreigners staying in the country for more than 90 days.
After the integration meeting, the tutors took the interns on an excursion around the University.
The second day of the program started with a welcoming address by the acting Head of Educational Work Department Khamed Khasan, which was followed by the presentations of the Student Sports Club, the Cultural Center, the Student Accommodation Division, and the Volunteer Center. The representatives of the Student Union and the Council of International Fraternities spoke about the events and student life at the University.
The volunteers from the Student Union organized for international interns an interactive game “MGIMO Tour” aimed at exploring the University’s infrastructure, student organizations, and extracurricular activities. These orientation events help international students adapt to the studying in a foreign country and quickly join the University’s student life.
