MGIMO Cooperates with Indian Institute of Chinese Studies

May 24th, faculty members of MGIMO’s Center for Comprehensive Chinese Studies and Regional Projects, led by their Director Alexey Voskresensky and the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Vladimir Morozov, had a meeting with an Indian delegation headed by Ambassador Ashok Kantha, Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies. The sides had an expert discussion on a myriad of topics relating to the foreign and domestic policies of a number of countries including China, India, Russia and the United States. The meeting participants also considered the opportunity for cooperation in education between the Indian Institute of Chinese Studies and MGIMO.

The Indian delegation also comprised the Director of the Center for East Asian Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Professor Alka Acharya and representatives of the Indian Embassy in Russia. On the Russian side, the meeting was attended by lecturers and researchers from MGIMO’s Center for Comprehensive Chinese Studies and Regional Projects.

Vladimir Morozov spoke about the history of MGIMO University and its educational programs. Alexey Voskresensky described the activities of the Center for Comprehensive Chinese Studies and Regional Projects, and the Indian guests introduced their Russian colleagues to their research activities. The Indian Institute of Chinese Studies uses an interdisciplinary comprehensive approach to study the internal transformations underway in China and their potential impact on India. The sides also had a fruitful discussion about the ways to develop cooperation between the two universities and made plans to implement student exchanges and joint educational and research programs.
