April 7th, the final stage of the third Vasily Trediakovsky Oratory Competition in French took place. The first prize was awarded to Daria Nazarova, a 4th year student of the School of International Journalism.
MGIMO Rector, Co-chairman of the Russian-French Trianon Dialogue A.Torkunov and the Ambassador of France to Russia P.Levy gave welcome speeches to the contestants, the members of the jury and guests of the event.
The jury of the 2021 competition comprised the Ambassador of France to Russia P.Levy, the President of the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry E.Quidet, the Head of the Representative Office of ENGIE in Russia A.Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Administrative Council of the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, partner of the legal firm Jeantet D. Lasfargue, the Head of the French language department at MGIMO M.Ogorodov and the Associate Professor of the department L.Chitahova.
Four students were pre-selected during the qualifying rounds and reached the final: Alena Evdokimova, Alexandra Zubenko, Sofia Kerimova and Daria Nazarova. Prizes were awarded to: Daria Nazarova – 1st place, Alexandra Zubenko – 2nd place, Sofia Kerimova and Alena Evdokimova – 3rd place.
The competition was first organized in 2018, at the initiative of a group of French students of MGIMO. The event was named after Vasily Kirillovich Trediakovsky, a Russian poet, translator and philologist of the 18th century.
This year's competition was organized by MGIMO’s Franco-Russian Youth Business Club with the support of the French Embassy and the French Institute in Russia. The event is held under the auspices of the Trianon Dialogue.
