March 11th, MGIMO Rector A.Torkunov, the Director of MIEP V.Salygin and the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation Ihab Akhmet Talaat Nasr had a meeting.
The sides spoke about the ways of enhancing Russian-Egyptian cooperation in the energy sector, as well as in education and research.
The meeting participants emphasized the importance of implementing effective interaction mechanisms between MGIMO, MIEP and leading universities in Egypt in order to staff the key joint projects the two countries are developing in the field of energy. The opportunities of creating new dual degree educational programs and research projects devoted to energy diplomacy and geopolitics, the digital and innovative economy and sustainable development were discussed. The parties also emphasized the need for a serious expert analysis of international energy markets and for experience sharing in the implementation of advanced digital technologies, artificial intelligence systems, innovations in the oil and gas sector, and the development of hydrogen energy.
During the meeting, a particular emphasis was put on discussing the most significant areas of activity and research projects of MGIMO’s MIEP as well as its successful experience creating joint educational programs in cooperation with leading universities in the world.
The meeting participants spoke about the possibility of stepping up the interaction between MGIMO, MIEP and the leading universities of Egypt, about the opening of a Russian-Egyptian Institute for Energy Cooperation, the joint implementation of international programs at MA and MBA level to meet the demand of leading companies in Russia and Egypt.
The negotiations were also attended on the Egyptian side by the First Secretary of the Embassy Mohamed Elabrak and the Cultural Counselor, Head of the Bureau of Culture Mohamed Elgebali. MIEP was also represented by its Deputy Directors D.Zhuvakin, S.Vasiliev, I.Guliev and the Chief Adviser, Ambassador E.Fazelyanov.
