MGIMO Hosts International History Conference

December 7th, an international conference on «Ideologies during World War II» took place at MGIMO. The event was organized in the framework of the International Association of Contemporary History of Europe’s project «Europe of the Twentieth Century — An Asymmetric Europe».

The Association has included MGIMO experts since its foundation in 1968. The officer of the Association currently representing Russia is the Historian Professor Eugenia Obichkina from MGIMO University.

The conference «Ideologies during World War II» was attended by academics from French, British, German and Italian universities. The working language of the conference was French and the event was kicked off by the former Russian Ambassador to France, Alexander Orlov.

Eugenia Obichkina made a presentation on Soviet projects during the post-war reorganization of Europe (1943–1945) and Nataliya Vasilyeva spoke about the ideas of Soviet diplomats during the creation a new universal international security organization (1943–1944). The French journal «Guerres Mondiales et Conflits Contemporains» plans to dedicate an issue to the results of the conference.
