August 26th, Professor of the Department of Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Mongolian Languages Tatiana Gurevich was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun (Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon) during the ceremony at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan. The prize was presented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the Vice-Rector for Science and Research Andrey Baykov and the Head of the Department Sergey Chironov.
The Order of the Rising Sun was established in 1875, having eight classes. Since the 1950s it has been granted to dozens of Soviet and Russian citizens, mostly scientists and artists, Orientalists and researchers of Japan.
