January 16th, an expert session of the «Trianon Dialogue», a platform for the cooperation of French and Russian civil societies, unfolded during the Gaidar Forum. The event was dedicated to urbanism and more specifically to the «City of the Future».
The session was co-chaired by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov and Pierre Morel, former French Ambassador to Russia (1992-1996), who also served as the EU Special Representative for Central Asia and for the crisis in Georgia.
The event gathered a number of prominent figures, politicians, experts and business representatives from Russia and France, who engaged in lively discussions on the social, economic, political and environmental issues which should be taken into account when developing modern cities.
Among those attending the «Trianon Session» were the Ambassador of France to Russia Sylvie-Agnes Bermann, the Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov, Moscow’s Chief Architect Sergei Kuznetsov, the Rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Vladimir Mau and Jean-Louis Cohen, an architect and architectural historian.
In the evening, the participants of the «Trianon Session» were invited to a reception organized in the Moscow mayor’s office, where they were greeted by the Minister of the Moscow City government, Sergey Cheremin.
