MGIMO Hosts Association of Leading Universities Meeting

February 12th, the Association of Leading Universities held a meeting at MGIMO University. The guests were greeted by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov.

The Senior Vice-Rector of Saint Petersburg State University, Elena Chernova, expressed her enthusiasm at the meeting taking place at MGIMO, one of the leading universities in Russia, and presented the main topics for discussion on the agenda.

The Co-Chairs of the Trianon Dialogue gave a brief account of the activities of the Russian-French civil society forum. Anatoly Torkunov described the circumstances surrounding the forum’s creation and spoke about its main goals, emphasizing the need for the citizens of both countries to communicate on a wide range of topics. The Rector also described the digital platform created for this purpose and highlighted the main events planned for 2019. The Co-Chair from the French side, Ambassador Pierre Morel, also underlined the need to build a constructive bilateral dialogue.

The Head of the Library and Publications Department of the Siberian Federal University Ruslan Baryshev gave a talk on the activities of the Association of Leading Universities’ working group dedicated to creating a digital platform to share academic work and manage copyright issues.

Kirill Golokhvast, Vice-Rector for Research at the Far Eastern Federal University, made a presentation on the initiative to create an online platform for the quality control of scientific qualifications, under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

The Association of Leading Universities is a Russian non-governmental nonprofit organization established in 2010 to facilitate public expertise of legislative and other initiatives in the area of higher education and science.
