September 28th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov welcomed to the University the recently appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria to Russia, Atanas Krastin (MGIMO Graduate 1986).
The sides exchanged views on MGIMO’s collaboration with Bulgarian universities and agreed that there is still a huge untapped potential to be explored.
Anatoly Torkunov spoke to the Ambassador about the BA and MA programs in which Bulgarian students are currently enrolled and explained that MGIMO greets each year a growing number of interns from Bulgarian universities. Since 1958, 753 Bulgarian students have graduated from MGIMO. The Rector also described to the guest the activities of the University’s Balkan Club.
The Ambassador noted that Bulgarian students remain as enthusiastic as ever about studying at MGIMO, and that the mastery of Oriental languages is required for Bulgarian diplomats planning to work in the region.
