April 15th, in the framework of the second course on «Modern Israel», Itai Brun, Brigadier General of the Israel Defense Forces, Deputy Director of the Israel Institute for National Security Studies, gave a talk to students of the University. The course is jointly implemented by MGIMO and the Israel Institute in Washington.
Itai Brun served as the Head of Israel Defense Intelligence Analysis Division (2011-2015). Prior to this position, he was the Head of the Analysis Department in the Israeli Air Force Intelligence and the first Director of the Israel Defense Forces’ Center for Interdisciplinary Military Studies.
The guest delivered a lecture devoted to «Modern Challenges to Israeli National Security», during which he analysed the relations between Israel and other regional and global actors such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, Russia and the United States. The professor also spoke about Israel’s national defense strategy and the different conflicts involving Israel since the early 1950’s.
