December 14th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati.
On the Russian side, the interview was attended by the University’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International programs Andrey Baykov and the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev. The Bahraini delegation also included the Ambassador’s Advisor on Economic Affairs, Abdullah Waleed Lateef.
The parties hashed out questions related to the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa being awarded a Honorary Doctoral Degree by MGIMO University and the opening of an office in the name of His Majesty.
The King of Bahrain will come to Russia on an official visit in May 2017 and will participate in the Victory day Parade.
The meeting participants also discussed issues related to bilateral relations in the academic sphere, reaching a agreement permitting the exchange of faculty members and joint research between Bahraini universities and MGIMO. Plans were made to organize training courses for diplomats on the Odintsovo campus and for the King of Bahrain to award scholarships to the best MGIMO students.
