MGIMO Alumni to Gather in Tashkent

May 18th-19th, MGIMO holds its 5th World Alumni Forum in Tashkent, bringing together government officials, businessmen, representatives of international organizations and media. All participants are united by the years they spent studying at MGIMO.

The forum will traditionally be opened by the country's leaders. During the previous forums, guests met with the presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his greetings to the MGIMO Alumni in Moscow.

The Tashkent Forum will be inaugurated by the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, the founder of USM Holdings, Deputy Chairman of MGIMO’s Board of Trustees Alisher Usmanov, the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, the Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Iliyas Umakhanov and the Deputy Director General of TASS, member of MGIMO’s Supervisory Board Mikhail Gusman, who will act as moderator. The Russian News Agency TASS is the information partner of the forum.

Among the speakers at the forum, all MGIMO graduates, there will be the Foreign Minister of Mongolia Damdin Tsogtbaatar, the Minister of Education of Cambodia Hang Chuon Naron, the Head of Russian Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science Sergey Kravtsov and a member of MGIMO’s Board of Trustees Patokh Chodiev. They will be joined in the afternoon by the Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak.

The program of the forum includes business meetings of the heads of companies and organizations who will discuss bilateral relations in the spheres of education, culture, and investment.

An expert discussion on multilateral cooperation and security in Central Asia will be attended by experts from MGIMO, University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and other organizations from Russia and Uzbekistan.

A new MGIMO development strategy and University’s innovative educational programs as well as those of its Campus in Tashkent will be presented at the MGIMO World Alumni Forum.
