Foreign students participate in integration meeting

23 August 2016

August 23rd, MGIMO invited its new foreign students to attend an introductory meeting organized jointly by the International Office and the Master’s Training Department. The event kicked-off «Integration Week».

During the meeting, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov and the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev addressed students from the English-language Baccalaureate and Master’s programs, as well as exchange students.

The speakers described the Russian educational process and MGIMO’s specificities. They also delivered information regarding the registration and visa renewal processes. Andrey Baykov made a case in favor of «cultural tolerance» and warned students against the temptation to evaluate Russian education based on their own pre-conceptions. He rather encouraged them to be open-minded and learn as much as they can from a new system.

Integration Week, attended by 400 students from a multitude of countries worldwide, aims at familiarizing newcomers with the management of the University and provides information regarding the educational process, accommodation, health insurance and other practical matters.
