Career Day at MGIMO

4 December 2019

December 4th, MGIMO’s main career event of the year, the 26th Career Day, unfolded at the University, with the participation of representatives of major international and Russian companies from different fields (finance, consulting, audit, transport, retail). Several thousand students from MGIMO and other Moscow universities attended the event.

During the opening ceremony, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources V. Morozov welcomed the guests and explained that in connection with the All-Russian Personnel Forum being held at MGIMO, Career Day would unfold in two stages: December 4th, firms and corporations would be represented at the job fair, and December 11th students could meet with civil servants of key ministries and departments of the country. The Vice-Rector also introduced the general sponsor of Career Day this year, the law firm «Rybalkin, Gortsunyan and Partners».

The Partner at the legal practice Oleg Isaev, a 2004 graduate of MGIMO, spoke to the guests and described «Rybalkin, Gortsunyan and Partners» as a team of serious professionals with an excellent reputation in all aspects of dispute resolution and corporate law. He noted that the company offers incredible opportunities to students and graduates in international law and that MGIMO graduates occupy the top positions in the structure of their law firm as well as in most state and private organizations.

During Career Day, students could participate in training sessions, thematic seminars and master classes. The seminar of the company «Rybalkin, Gortsunyan and Partners» dealt with the foreign legal instruments in international disputes in which Russian parties are involved. The law firms CMS, Cleary Gottlieb, Debevoise & Plimpton made presentations on their activities. A master class by Superjob on how to prepare an attractive resume was very popular among students as was the lecture by the Russian Central Bank on being a «Lawyer in the Bank of Russia».

The guests of the event could fine-tune their professional projects thanks to the exhaustive information offered by HR officers about the career prospects in each type of job, as well as placements and job opportunities. They could submit their resumes and apply directly for jobs and internships. Employers also had the opportunity to attract the most promising candidates for their vacancies.
