MGIMO Welcomes Delegation from Cambodian National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations

February 18th, MGIMO received a delegation from the National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations of Cambodia, led by its President, also the Under Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Chhiv Yiseang.

The guest was greeted by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, the Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin, the Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, the Director of the ASEAN Centre Victor Sumsky and members of the faculty. The visiting delegation also comprised academics from NIDIR’s Department for Public Relations and its Department for Academic Work as well as representatives of the Embassy of Cambodia in Russia.

Anatoly Torkunov spoke about MGIMO’s academic cooperation programs with ASEAN countries and described the University’s role in training diplomats for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After the meeting, Anatoly Torkunov and Chhiv Yiseang signed a Memorandum on cooperation between their two universities.

The Cambodian delegation also attended meetings with the Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov and the Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, who told the guests about how MGIMO builds partnerships with employers and participates in international university networks. The guests asked about MGIMO’s different training programs and its links with the Russian Foreign Ministry. The delegation was taken on a guided tour of the University and on a visit of MGIMO’s History Museum and the Museum of Rare Books.
